Discuss your creativity and the art supplies you use to express it here!| Can anyone tell me how to remove fabric glue? | | I recently got fabric glue on one of my nice shirts. I don't want to get rid of my shirt but have washed it several times and the glue does not come out. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the fabric glue from my shirt? What other things work for stain removals like blood, mustard, and ketchup?
| | General | | I was looking for a cheap way to take some fabric I had left from upholstering my kitchen chairs to make an inexpensive window treatment. Through Design on A Dime I found that for as little as $35.00 I could have a unique window treatment that would further enhance my kitchen. All you need is a window shade, your fabric, some fabric glue, a pretty trim. No sewing involved. Simple, cheap and a great window in the end. | |
| | The Universe Is Out To Get Me | | I spent all morning looking for fabric glue. Fabric glue. It isn't a difficult item to come by. Any hobby, craft, fabric or corporate chain store should carry it. I'm not picky about the brand, as long as it sticks fabric together I'm happy. All morning, four hours, on the hunt for one measly tube of fabric glue. Was I able to find fabric glue? No, I was not. I'm still stunned and confused. All I need is a single, simple tube of fabric glue. That's it. Nothing more. And yet, the universe has deemed fit that I should not come into possession of that one most coveted item. It's one of those days where I feel like the universe has chosen me to be the butt of its daily jokes. I feel as though no matter what I was looking for, it would have eluded me. Murphy's Law, I live by it.Cosmic sense of humor is a b1tch. | |

| | How to remove adhesive | |
I have a couple acrylic sweaters that had a fur trim that I removed. Unfortunately besides being sewn on, it was also glued and I have no idea what kind of glue, I am guessing a sort of fabric glue. Is there anything I can use to remove the adhesive without harming the sweater itself?

| | Here's A Trick For You! Thin Curtains! What To Do? | | Oh how I hate thin curtains!! It doesn't matter what the design is, if they're thin, everybody on the other side can see a silhouette of you and what you're doing. I sooooo hate that!! I had just painted my bedroom for it so badly needed it since it was three and a half years ago since it was done last and I painted it a beige color but more on the brown side, not yellow. I bought new bed linens and curtains to match however, my curtains are so darned thin!! I hated them but got a great idea in my head so I ran with it! Well, since I don't have a sewing machine, couldn't get one to work if I did have one. lol I decided to buy two kind sized flat sheets in a light brown color to match the curtains which are in all kinds of browns so it matches perfectly and cut the sheets into the sizes of the curtains minus the hem areas and then I used these fabric glue strips to iron them on! It looks awesome and privacy? Whoa!! Privacy is back!! LOL They feel more like drapes now than thin see through curtains so I'm right happy about that!! Now they're not perfect by any means because I didn't have a white marker pen so I did the very best that I could and heck! How is anybody going to know... | |

| | Tips And Tricks For That Perfect Costume! | | As most of my Mylot friends know, I'm an avid Cosplayer. And I'm in pre-convention mode right now, assembling my costumes and already planning future outfits.
I do mostly altering to get a costume put together, but I'm planning on doing my first costume from scratch soon. The costume is for Lamika, from the original Vampire Hunter D. It's a relatively simple dress, though the collar and headpiece may prove difficult.I've worked mainly with fabric glue rather than a sewing machine - though I do have one. Anyway, I'm just looking for some good tips on starting from scratch when you don't have a pattern available to you. What sort of fabrics do you like working with, do you prefer a dress form or not, etc etc.And if anyone knows a good paint that will lend a realistic metallic sheen, let me know!
