| learn how to prepare the oil paint before actual painting | | I use to paint with the Bob Ross method many years ago. I loved it. However I haven't been able to pursue it for a long time. Now I would like to pick it up again but I'm looking for the answer on what to do with the paint after you squeeze it out of the tub.
I'm sure that something is done to thin out the paint a little and I don't know if you mix in paint thinner or not. HELP!! | |
| | I oil paint to relax. What hobbies do you have? | | DONT tell me Mylot! I meant the soothing sensation you get from indulging your favorite pastime by yourself with no interuptions for awhile. Everyone should have a hobby and do it a minimum of twice a week for an hour or more. It could be reading, gardening, walking, jogging, going to the gym, volunterring your time, etc.

| Do you paint in your free time? | | Hi mylotters, do you like to paint in your free time? what sort of paint do you use? watercolor or oil paint, chalk or crayon, sketch pen or pencil and charcoal? i like paint in my free time and i mainly use oil paint, as it is very easy to use and once you get the hang of it, you can even paint without brushes by using a pallette knife. i'm not famous for my paintings nor my paintings are in great demand, but i just like to paint and i have quite a collection of my own paintings. I mostly paint landscapes, seascapes and sceneries (i've not mastered the technique of portrait yet). with paintings one can express their inner most feelings which words are cannot express. be it abstract or scenery or anything, just give it a try, and try to express that feeling which you have in your mind into an image, who knows maybe there's a hidden talent inside of you. | |
| | pure novice | | i have not had any proper training with painting, just a true blue amateur. the things i know about stretching a canvas and priming i've learned from painters i know. however, i have a question overlooked during one of my discussions with my painter friends, and i'm too lazy to surf the net, since i'm hooked to responding to discussions here. anyway, can we use oil paint with a canvas panel primed with water-based flat white paint???i would have used gesso, but i cant find any here in our little island. any input would be much appreciated. i've started on two canvases already:( | |

| Fumes while oil painting | | Have you found anything that works as good or better as Turpentine when painting with oil? I only paint outside in the summertime now, but would love to be able to paint inside more often throughout the year.I have also tried the Mona Lisa Paint Thinner, but it does not seem to work as well as good old fashioned turpentine.Any ideas?

| | Coloring for Relaxation and for Fun with the Kids | | Grab a crayon and join your kids or grandkids when they are coloring in their favorite color books. Better yet, buy a few for yourself. Coloring is a great way to relax. When my kids were little we would bring out the coloring books and crayons and sit for hours bringing color the pictures. Each of us had a book that we would color from and once we finished a picture, we would trade books. It was an enjoyable time for all of us. | |
